The International Arctic Research Center (IARC) announces the
availability of partial travel support for the IPY 2012 From Knowledge
to Action conference. The conference will be held 22-27 April 2012 in
Montreal, Canada.
Applications are sought from students, postdoctoral researchers,
faculty, and investigators at U.S. institutions. Young investigators,
students, and members of underrepresented groups are especially
encouraged to apply. Travel support will also be offered to a small
number of educators who are actively engaged in presenting information
on polar studies in their classrooms. Successful applicants must be
enrolled at or employed by a U.S. institution, and must present a talk
or poster at the symposium.
The awards are expected to be between $1500 and $2000, with lesser
amounts awarded to well-established applicants. The National Science
Foundation's Office of Polar Programs has provided funds to support
these travel grants. The application form may be downloaded from the
IARC website at: http://www.iarc.uaf.edu/en/workshops/2012/Montreal.
Application deadline: Monday, 23 January 2012.
