Svanhovd Environmental Centre has published a new report "Oil transport
from the Russian part of the Barents Region - Status per January 2005"
describing the rise of oil transportation from the Russian Barents. In
2002 there was a dramatic increase of oil shipment, and in 2004 about 12
million tons of export oil was delivered from northern Russia to the
western market along the coast of Norway. However, it is only a
beginning. The annual export of the Russian oil being shipped through
the Barents Sea may reach the volume of 100-150 million tons in the next
decade.
