Ice/Weather/Ocean Information Available Online
Technical University of Denmark
The system can be accessed at:
http://www.seaice.dk
The Technical University of Denmark has for several years operated a
free Internet based near-real-time ice/weather/ocean information system
for the polar regions. The system can be accessed at:
http://www.seaice.dk
The database is updated continuously as new data becomes available.
Many sources of satellite imagery as well as other data are featured in
the system such as:
- ENVISAT ASAR Global Monitoring Mode (mosaics as well as 1 Km
resolution swath data);
- SSM/I passive microwave data (Various ice products);
- AMSR-E ice, ocean, and atmosphere products;
- AMSU ice and atmosphere products;
- QuickSCAT backscatter maps;
- various near-real-time ice drift products from the above;
- ice concentration contours; and
- wind forecasts.
The interactive system allows user defined pan/zoom and a selection of
overlays (coastlines, lat/lon grids, bathymetry etc).
A brochure explaining the system and requirements can be found at:
