Position Announcement
Marine Ecology
University Centre on Svalbard
Application Deadline: 1 April 2005
The Department of Biology at the University Centre on Svalbard (UNIS)
invites applications for a post doc position in marine ecology.
The vacant position is part of the NFR funded project: "Phenotypic
Variability in Life-history Traits - Is Intra Population Variability
Important For Zooplankton Dynamics" and is a cooperation between UNIS
and the Danish Institute for Fisheries Research (DIFRES). A year of the
project will be spent at the Department of Marine Ecology and
Aquaculturem at DIFRES. The project is devoted to the study of
individual variability in life-history traits in natural populations of
marine zooplankton. Such variability is potentially adaptive and
therefore important for how populations respond to environmental changes
such as anthropogenic impacts and climate variability.
Candidates are sought with interests in quantitative ecology, and
preferably, with some experience with experimental work with live
organisms. The position will be offered to the best candidate in terms
of quality and quantity of research. To be considered for the position,
a Ph.D. in an appropriate field, or its equivalent, is the minimum
requirement. Norwegian applicants are encouraged.
An expert committee will evaluate the qualifications of the applicants.
The appointment will be made by the Board of UNIS based on the
recommendation from the committee and the director.
To apply, please submit three copies of:
- curriculum vitae (including a full list of publications and previously
held grants), and
- up to 5 publications (authored or co-authored by the candidate) that
he\she wants to have evaluated for consideration for appointment to this
position.
Please note that the committee could ask for further documentation or
copies of parts or the complete scientific production described by the
applicants.
Send applications by 1 April 2005 to:
