VPR will be hosting an Aviation Land & Water course in Anchorage, Alaska
on 17-18 March 2005. The course will be facilitated by LTR Training
Systems (http://www.survivaltraining.com). The 2-day course offers an
intense look at methods and techniques for surviving aviation accidents
in the Arctic. Students are exposed to land and water crash simulators
to duplicate impact conditions, and receive "dunker" training in a local
pool with certified instructors.
This course is sponsored through VPR by the National Science Foundation
and there are still ten spaces open to NSF-funded arctic researchers.
This includes principal investigators, graduate students, research
assistants, and undergraduate field assistants. The course is free of
charge for all qualified researchers. Travel assistance/per diem is
available for participants outside of the local Anchorage area. VPR
will only accept attendees whose schedules allow them to attend both
days of the course.
Please note that VPR will arrange for and provide travel and
accommodations for course participants only. Please do not ask them to
accommodate partners and/or families or assist with personal travel in
conjunction with the courses.
