  1. Memorial University seeks Assistant Professor
    Biogeography
    Newfoundland, Canada

The Geography Department at the Memorial University of Newfoundland
invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biogeography. The
position will be based in Newfoundland, Canada.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate
and graduate (Master's and PhD) levels; engage in an active, externally
funded research program; and demonstrate commitment to excellence in
both teaching and research. The Geography Department has identified four
research clusters that recognize existing research: climate and
environmental change; globalization, economy, and resources; society,
knowledge, and values; and sustainable communities and regions. A fifth
cluster on human health and security is an identified strategic research
priority.

Application packages must include a current curriculum vitae, a teaching
dossier, a research plan, and the names and addresses of three persons
who can supply a letter of reference. Applications should be directed
to:

  1. University of Victoria seeks Graduate Students
    Arctic Marine Ecosystem Modeling
    Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

The School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria
seeks Master's and/or PhD students for a project on modeling the arctic
marine ecosystem. The positions will be based in Victoria, British
Columbia, Canada.

Successful candidates will be working with a 1-D model based on the
General Ocean Turbulence Model (GOTM) and/or a regional sea-ice
ecosystem model for the Arctic. Model development focus will be based on
background and interest, and is flexible within the range of sea-ice and
pelagic ecosystems, sulfur and carbon biochemistry, and gas-exchange.
The positions will be focused on modeling, but participation in field
cruises will be encouraged.

Applicants should have a background in ocean or atmospheric physics or
biogeochemistry. Prospective students are required to follow the formal
process for application to the center of graduate studies at the
University of Victoria: http://web.uvic.ca/seos/graduate/index.htm.

Anticipated start date is April 2013.
