- Registration and Call for Abstracts
Arctic Science Summit Week
13-19 April 2013
Krakow, Poland
Organizers of the 2013 Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) announce that
registration and abstract submission are now open for the science
symposium, "The Arctic Hub - Regional and Global Perspectives." The
meeting will be held 13-19 April 2013 in Krakow, Poland.
ASSW is an annual gathering of international organizations engaged in
supporting and facilitating arctic research. Its purpose is to provide
opportunities for international coordination, collaboration, and
cooperation in all fields of arctic science and to combine science and
management meetings.
The 2013 ASSW will include the three-day science symposium. The
symposium will include disciplinary sessions such as atmosphere
processes and global climate connections, cryospheric changes, marine
processes and variability, terrestrial ecosystem responses to
environmental stressors, and the impact of global changes on arctic
society. Topics for cross-cutting sessions include arctic people and
resources (opportunities, challenges, and risks); applying local and
traditional knowledge to better understanding of the changing arctic;
arctic system science for regional and global sustainability; and the
changing north (predictions and scenarios).
Abstract submission deadline: 6 January 2013.
To register for the conference and to submit an abstract, please go to:

2013 in Seattle, Washington.
Papers are solicited on all aspects of polar meteorology and
oceanography, including atmospheric, oceanic, terrestrial, and
cryospheric processes; climate (past, present, and future); rapid
environmental change; interactions among polar atmosphere-ocean-land-ice
components (including biosphere-geosphere exchanges); high latitude
atmospheric and oceanic dynamics; boundary layer processes; weather
forecasting; human dimensions; and extreme events. Authors of accepted
abstracts will be notified via email by late January 2013.
Abstract submission deadline: 14 January 2013.

Sustainable Mineral Processing will be held 10-13 December 2012 at the
University of Oulu in Oulu, Finland.
The conference gives an overview of the trends in the research of
sustainable mineral processing as well as in mining industry
opportunities. It will focus on sustainability within two themes:
- Economic, Environmental, and Social Aspects; and
- Base and Critical Metals.
There will be an excursion to the northern part of Finland, which offers
an opportunity to see advanced technology in an arctic environment.
Attendees are welcome to present posters relevant to the conference
themes.
Poster abstract submission deadline: Wednesday, 31 October 2012.
