The International Study of Arctic Change (ISAC) Program Office will hold
a 6th Annual Town Hall at the Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical
Union (AGU) in San Francisco, California. The meeting will take place on
Thursday, 12 December at 7:00-9:00 p.m. PST in the Arctic Research
Consortium of the U.S. (ARCUS) Arctic Community Meeting Room. The
meeting room is located at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, Pacific
Room J. The Marriott is one block from the AGU sessions at the Moscone
Center West.
The Town Hall will cover ISAC progress to date, including a report of
the first Biennal Arctic Observing Summit held in Vancouver in spring
2013, and information about the upcoming 2nd Arctic Observing Summit,
scheduled in conjunction with Arctic Science Summit Week, 6-12 April
2014 in Helsinki, Finland. In addition to the AOS reports, the ISAC SSG
and Program Office will have open discussion on the continued
development and implementation of the Responding to Change (RtoC)
component of the ISAC Science Plan. There will be an RtoC Scoping
Meeting held in Tromso on 21 January 2014 in conjunction with the Arctic
Frontiers meeting, and a full-scale RotC Workshop is tentatively
scheduled for fall 2014.
The ISAC Town Hall is an important mechanism for eliciting input on ISAC
activities, and provides a framework for discussion of ISAC goals and
objectives for the coming year. All interested individuals and
organizations are welcome and input is particularly sought from those
involved in Arctic observing programs and transdisciplinary programs.
Members of the Arctic research community from outside the U.S. involved
in similar initiatives, in the Arctic or elsewhere, are also welcome to
participate in the town hall. For further background you can download
