After the summer break the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists
(APECS) Virtual Poster Session (VPS) is back! The first session has a
biological focus: "Health problem increase in arctic waters--from
parasites to human garbage." It will be convened Thursday, 30 September
2010 at 20:00 GMT.
Two posters will be presented virtually (oral and visual) followed by a
discussion of the overarching topic. The presentations are as follows:

Plastic ingestion in arctic seabirds: indicators of change in arctic
waters
Everyone interested is invited to join. The session will be conducted
through an online meeting system (Adobe Acrobat Connect) hosted by the
University of Canterbury. There are 30 available spaces in the virtual
meeting room; if you want to participate, please send an email to Kim
Jochum (kimjochum [at] gmx.de). Reservations will be taken on a first come,
first serve basis. Further instructions will be distributed to
registered participants a few days before the call.
APECS is an international and interdisciplinary organization for
undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early
faculty members, educators, and others with interests in polar regions
and the wider cryosphere. APECS aims to stimulate interdisciplinary and
international research collaborations, and develop effective future
