Sea Ice Outlook: 2024 September Report
We thank all the groups and individuals who submitted Outlooks to the Sea Ice Outlook. The 2024 June–September SIO reports will be limited to the pan-Arctic forecasts while we work to secure funding to support the continuation of the SIO. Please note that all the contributed data (e.g., Alaska, Antarctic, and spatial forecasts) will be shared and discussed in a post-season report (in early 2025).

Outlook Report
Executive Summary
The Sea Ice Outlook (SIO) is a community network activity led by the Sea Ice Prediction Network-Phase 2 (SIPN2) Project Team with contributions from key partners. SIPN2 is a community of scientists and stakeholders with the goal of advancing our understanding of the state and evolution of Arctic sea-ice cover. Support for the 2023 Outlook was provided by NSF award #1331083.
* The observed 2023 September monthly averaged sea-ice extent was 4.37 million square kilometers
IASC State of Arctic Science Report 2023
The IASC State of Arctic Science Report 2023 presents a cohesive synthesis of Arctic research activities and priorities with of a large range of input and contributions across all aspects of Arctic research. It is aimed at Arctic science agencies, managers, and users including a wide range of decision-makers and policymakers, to help all Arctic science stakeholders stay up to date on Arctic research.

Outlook Report
Executive Summary
We thank those dedicated participants who contributed to this 2023 September Sea Ice Outlook (SIO) report and all the reports for this year. The 2023 September Sea Ice Outlook received 22 submissions (29 in August, 30 in July, 38 in June). These outlook contributions are based on various methods, including dynamical (physics-based) models, statistical approaches including machine-learning (ML), and heuristic (qualitative). Along with projections of total Arctic sea-ice extent for September, the September SIO received five projections of Antarctic
