(WHOI) seeks applicants to a full-time tenure-track position. They seek
exceptional candidates from the biological, mathematical, and physical
sciences to complement their existing interdisciplinary strengths in
oceanography and marine ecology. Both theoretical and empirical
approaches are welcome.

Candidates in all areas are welcome to apply; research topics of
particular interest include:

  1. Master's Programme in Circumpolar Health and Wellbeing seeks
    Applicants

Master's Programme in Circumpolar Health and Wellbeing (MCH) seeks
applicants for studies starting in January 2011.

Special features of the North, such as physical environment, social
circumstances, linguistic and cultural aspects, and peripheral location,
place specific demands on the delivery of health care and wellbeing
services.

MCH is an international two-year Master's Degree program of 120 ECTS (60
North American credit hours) concentrating on the special features,
questions, and challenges related to health and wellbeing in the
circumpolar area. The program is open for students holding a Bachelor's
degree in the fields of health, social, or related sciences. In
addition, the applicants must have sufficient English language
proficiency, proved by a standardized English language test (TOEFL,
IELTS etc.).

MCH is established and managed in collaboration with the University of
Oulu (Finland), University of Southern Denmark (Denmark), Lulea
University of Technology (Sweden), Northern State Medical University
(Russia), Pomor State University (Russia), University of Lapland
(Finland), and University of Manitoba (Canada). The program is
coordinated by the Centre for Arctic medicine at Thule Institute,
University of Oulu.

The program consists of a compulsory on-line course package, elective
on-line and on-site studies, an exchange period, and a Master's Thesis.
The curriculum outline enables MCH students to complete a substantial
amount of their studies by distance learning. Graduates of MCH will be
awarded a Master's Degree in Health Sciences from the University of
Oulu. Graduates are able to work as independent professionals in the
multi-professional field of health and wellbeing (e.g. - administrative
and managerial positions within health care services, and in health
promotion, education, development, planning, and research).

The application deadline is 31 March 2010.

Studies start in January 2011.
