The Arctic Institute of North America announces a new set of web pages,
which guide users through some of the northern excursions represented in
its Photographic Archives.
The "Sovereignty, Defense and Discovery" site contains interactive maps
that detail seven of the Institute's collections. Users can view the
maps and click on specific locations to learn more about the areas and
the men who explored the north.
Website users can:
- Follow the tracks of Canada's army in Operation Muskox
- Trace the routes of mountaineers as they challenged the peaks of
Baffin Island
- Learn about the role of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in asserting
Canadian sovereignty
