The University of Wisconsin Ice Coring and Drilling Services (ICDS)
provides support for National Science Foundation (NSF)-sponsored
cold-regions research in both polar regions and at high altitudes.
Services include design, fabrication, and operation of ice drilling
equipment in Antarctica, Greenland, and high alpine areas. Ice drilling
and technical services include electro-mechanical ice core drills and
shot holes, hot water drill for deep access holes and shot holes, and
sub-ice sampling.
Researchers planning to request support from ICDS in their proposals
under the current NSF Arctic Research Opportunities solicitation are
asked to contact ICDS prior to submitting their proposal.
