The National Centre for Biosystematics works on taxonomy and
phylogeography of arctic and alpine plants. Plant material for DNA and
morphological analyses is needed for various projects. Investigations
focus on possible glacial refugia areas and post-glacial migration
routes, therefore, samples from as many geographical regions as possible
are needed. The total list of required plants is large. Plant samples of
the following species from the Kola Peninsula and Novaya Zemlya in
Russia are especially needed.
Kola Peninsula:
Arabis alpina
Salix herbacea
Saxifraga rivularis
Saxifraga stellaris
Thalictrum alpinum
Novaya Zemlya:
Arabis alpina
Androsace triflora
Eritrichium villosum (subsp. villosum & subsp. pulvinatum)
Pedicluaris novaiae-zemliae
Pedicularis dasyantha
Pedicularis oederi
Salix herbacea
Saxifraga rivularis
Please collect 5-11 samples on silica gel and one herbarium voucher of
each species. We greatly appreciate any contribution to our project. All
freight charges will be covered.
