Boundaries between grasslands and forests are climatically controlled,
either by interactions among continent-scale air masses or through local
or regional modification of continent-scale air masses by topography. A
complex interaction among climatic, geologic, biologic, and human
systems in the history and future of grassland-forest boundaries
necessitates interdisciplinary approaches and integrative efforts among
investigators to further understanding of their dynamics.
Talks from invited speakers from a range of disciplines will focus on
hypotheses, approaches, and data germane to the dynamics of climatic,
biotic, geologic, and cultural systems in forest-grassland border areas.
In addition to the invited talks, ALL meeting participants are invited
to submit abstracts for poster presentations.
