The NCP Publications Database, which describes more than 760
publications that have resulted from Canada's Northern Contaminants
Program, is now available.
The Northern Contaminants Program (NCP) was established in 1991 to
reduce and, wherever possible, eliminate contaminants in traditionally
harvested foods, while providing information that assists informed
decision making by individuals and communities in their food use. The
NCP is managed by Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, in partnership
with other federal departments, the three territorial governments, and
northern aboriginal organizations.
NCP publications are being identified with the help of NCP researchers
and are being added to the NCP Publications Database in priority order.
Most NCP Secretariat publications, education and communication
publications, and journal papers are in the database now, as are papers
from the first seven of eleven Synopsis of Research volumes. Most
unpublished reports, conference papers and abstracts, and report and
book chapters remain to be added. Please see the Contents page of the
website for details.
The records in the NCP Publications Database contain citations,
abstracts, and detailed subject and geographic indexing. The database is
searchable by words in titles and abstracts, broad subject area,
contaminant, plant or animal, geographic region, community, author,
publication type, and year of publication.
Suggestions for improvements to the NCP Publications Database and
website are welcome.
