This summer the Norwegian sailboat "Jotun Arctic" will follow the
explorer Roald Amundsen's original route (1903-05) through the Northwest
Passage. Along with six Norwegian scientists, there will be a botanist
on board with many opportunities to go ashore and collect samples.
The tentative itinerary includes Greenlandic stops at Godhavn, Umanaq,
Upernavik, and Kap York. Canadian stops consist of Bylot Island, Devon
Island, Beachy Island, Resolute, Sommerset Island, Matty Island, King
William Island, and Gjoa Haven.
If you are interested in samples from this region, please contact
Kristine Westergaard at the University Museum of Tromso before the end
of April. You can also receive more detailed information about the
expedition.
