The 38th Annual Congress of the Canadian Meteorological and
Oceanographic Society (CMOS) will be held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
on 31 May - 3 June 2004.
THEME
The overall theme of the 38th Congress is "Human Dimensions of Weather
and Climate." Papers directed towards this theme are particularly
encouraged, however, submissions in seven other key focus areas are also
being solicited. These areas include:
(1) Climate Change
(2) Aviation Meteorology
(3) High Latitude Processes
(4) Severe and Hazardous Weather
(5) The Northern Oceans (Arctic, Atlantic, and Pacific) and their Linkages
(6) Drought and Water Issues
(7) Remote Sensing and New Technologies
CONCURRENT WORKSHOP
The Mackenzie GEWEX Study (MAGS) has confirmed that they will hold their
annual workshop in conjunction with the 38th Congress. The MAGS workshop
will include several open Congress science sessions with the focus
towards a deeper understanding of the regional climate of the Mackenzie
River Basin, followed by a closed afternoon working session with
scientists from both the MAGS and CLIVAR research communities discussing
common research interests.
