The Institut des sciences de la mer (ISMER) of the Université du Québec
à Rimouski (UQAR) announces the availability of financial support for
graduate studies in microalgal systematics - polar oceanography within
the Canadian Arctic Shelf Exchange Study (CASES)
(http://www.giroq.ulaval.ca/cases/) recently funded by the Natural
Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada. The
scholarship is available from September 2002. The field program will
take place in the MacKenzie shelf in the Beaufort Sea. Graduate studies
may lead to M. Sc. or Ph. D. degrees in oceanography.
As a pre-requisite, a B. Sc. degree in biology or environmental sciences
is required to enter these programs. The teaching language at UQAR is
French, but all faculty members are fluent in English. Candidates can
carry their research and write their dissertation or thesis in the
language of their choices (French or English).
