Position Opening for Physical Scientist
At Denali National Park and Preserve
Denali National Park and Preserve is seeking applicants for a physical
scientist position in the park's Division of Research and Resource
Management. This position serves as staff specialist for Denali Park physical
science programs and manages or assists in the management of other resource
programs related to glaciers, geology, paleontology, soils, air quality,
meteorology and other fields in the non-biological component of natural
resources. This position is assigned to the Physical Sciences Branch,
Division of Research and Resource Preservation, Denali National Park and
Preserve. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and managing
specific physical sciences portions of the Denali Long Term Ecological
Monitoring (LTEM) program. Major emphasis includes the responsibility for
coordination and management of the park glacier, and meteorological programs,
with secondary responsibilities in other LTEM physical sciences, to include
air and water quality, and soils. Provides physical science resource sections
for the Resource Management Plan, and other physical resource planning or
funding requirements.
The purpose of these programs is to understand, protect and preserve Denali’s
natural resource values. The incumbent works under the supervision of the
Physical Science Branch Chief, Division of Research and Resource
Preservation. This is a professional level staff position (at the GS-9/11/
level).
