ANTARCTIC RESEARCH SUPPORT MANAGER

NSF’s Office of Polar Programs seeks qualified candidates for the position
of Antarctic Research Support Manager. The incumbent is an integral part of
the Polar Research Support Section who is responsible for the planning,
development, and coordination of operational support plans for over one
hundred scientific projects that annually take place in Antarctica. He/she
also ensures development of annual and multi-year plans that detail how the
scientific work is to be supported in Antarctica. This involves, but is not
limited to, aircraft and surface transportation and logistics; field camp
construction and operations; laboratory design, construction and management.
Extensive travel and extended deployment to the Antarctic will be required.

Appointment to this position will be made under the Excepted Authority of
the NSF Act. For the AD-4 level, applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent
experience in the following fields: engineering, biology, geology,
geophysics, atmospheric physics, or oceanography. In addition, applicants
must have six or more years of successful research, research administration,
and/or logistics management experience directly related to this position.
AD-4 salary level ranges from $68,570 - $106,868.
