The Arctic Research Consortium of the U.S. is accepting applications for an
Indigenous Curriculum Specialist.
Responsibilities
Support indigenous curriculum development efforts in Alaska under auspices
of Alaska Rural Systemic Initiative and Alaska Rural Challenge including:
- Compile, index, disseminate curriculum resources applicable to
incorporation of indigenous knowledge. - Prepare WWW/CD-ROM database of relative resources.
- Contribute to development of indigenous curriculum frameworks.
- Assist with planning and implementation of arctic science education
programs.
Experience
Position requires experience in curriculum development for rural schools
serving indigenous people and community-based schooling. Demonstrated
interest/expertise in arctic research or science education is preferred.
Candidates should have knowledge of Native cultures, languages, values,
traditions, and philosophy of life; proficient in writing/computers; work
in Fairbanks with minimum supervision as member of statewide team.
Position
Full-time, regular, 12-mo position, renewable contingent on funding. Salary
Range: $38,000 - 42,000, DOE
