The Faculty of Biogeosciences, Fisheries, and Economics at UiT The Arctic University of Norway invites applications for a Professor in marine biochemistry. This full-time, permanent position will be located at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, Norway.
The successful candidate will focus on regional and/or global biogeochemical cycles including inorganic nutrient chemistry. Teaching responsibilities will focus on inorganic nutrients, biogeochemical cycles, and food web tracer studies, but may also include marine ecology.
This position will be responsible for individual courses. Teaching will include supervision and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate student theses at BSc, MSc, and PhD levels. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in ship-based and field-based research and/or teaching activities for several weeks each year.
Minimum requirements for this position include a Norwegian PhD degree in marine botany, marine biogeochemistry, or similar qualification. The successful applicant must have documented competence in marine nutrient cycles and uptake kinetics, food web tracer studies (e.g. stable isotopes, marker chemical compounds), and/or cycling of organic matter. A focus on marine pelagic processes that has relevance for benthic food webs is preferred.
