The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor position in paleoclimatology and the Quaternary history of the polar regions. This position will be located at OSU in Corvallis, Oregon.
The successful candidate will develop and maintain an externally-funded program that employs a range of approaches to reconstruct past climate from polar ice cores and linkages between high latitude and global processes, including developing novel geochemical approaches for climate reconstruction. The successful candidate will also teach lower-division, non-major courses in topic related to climate change and/or upper division, graduate courses that center around paleoclimate data analysis, glaciology, or topics related to their research specialty.
Requirements for this position include, but are not limited to:
- A PhD in the earth or physical sciences;
- Demonstrated scholarly ability as evidenced by a record of peer-reviewed publications in internationally-renowned journal publications;
- A clearly defined research agenda in paleoclimatology and the Quaternary history of the polar regions;
- Demonstrated ability for establishing a multi-year, externally-funded research program;
- Demonstrated ability or significant potential for teaching in areas of climate change, paleoclimate data analysis, glaciology, and/or topics related to the applicant’s research specialties;
- Demonstrated ability or significant potential for mentoring undergraduate students, graduate students, and post-doctoral scholars; and
- Proficiency in oral and written English.
The ability to travel as needed to advance the research program may be required.
