The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is currently accepting abstract submissions for the 2019 Fall Meeting. The meeting will be held 9-13 December 2019 in San Francisco, California.
Conveners of the following session invite abstract submissions:
SESSION C016: Multi-decadal to Centennial Variability in Ice Sheets and Sea Level
Conveners: Leanne Mary Wake, Daniel Goldberg, Edward Hanna, and Kristian K. Kjeldsen
This session aims to draw together scientists whose research is focused on the timescales of response of cryospheric systems, and the subsequent effects on regional and global sea level change. Studies with a focus on the Arctic cryosphere are welcomed.
Understanding the drivers behind multi-decadal to centennial-scale variability in ice sheets and sea level is crucial when planning for a warming world. However, the magnitude and timing of the response of ice sheets to past climatic changes remains poorly understood. This makes attribution of the causes of episodic and secular changes in mass balance, and their associated contribution to sea level change, challenging.
Conveners invite abstracts that present observational investigations and/or modelling studies to advance understanding of the periodicity of ice sheet/stream/shelf response to past, present or future climate forcing. Submissions may also include studies of multi-decadal to centennial-scale variability in sea level and attribution of its drivers.
