The Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) announces their upcoming webinar, Implementing the Arctic Research Plan 2022-2026. This 90-minute webinar will take place Tuesday, 15 February 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. AKST.
Webinar Description:
In December 2021, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy released IARPC’s Arctic Research Plan 2022-2026. Building on the successes and communities of practice of the 2017-2021 plan, the new Arctic Research Plan is a bold strategy for a changing Arctic. It outlines a vision for federal agencies to address emerging research questions about this vital region, and provides pathways to strengthen relationships between federal agencies and Indigenous communities, academia and non-federal researchers, the state of Alaska, nonprofits, and private sector and international organizations.
The Arctic Research Plan 2022-2026 provides a high-level strategy and goals for the next five years of Arctic research. In order to respond quickly to novel challenges and to provide more opportunities for Arctic researchers and residents to drive the work IARPC does, IARPC is moving to a two-year implementation process for the plan. Biennial implementation plans will include more granular, specific objectives and deliverables. The first biennial implementation plan is currently under development and will cover 2022-2024.
In this webinar, biennial implementation plan transition teams will provide an overview of their draft objectives and request input and ideas.
