Polar Impact announces their upcoming webinar, titled What Makes a Mentor? A Panel on Inclusive Mentorship Practices. This webinar will take place 9:00-10:00 a.m. Eastern Time on 22 September 2022.

This virtual panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Jackie Goordial, assistant professor at the University of Guelph, and will explore themes around mentoring styles and networks, learning from poor mentorship experiences, and the nuanced role mentorship plays for historically excluded groups, specifically in polar research.

Panelists include:

  • Thulani Makhalanyane, Assistant Professor at the University of Pretoria, South Africa
  • Jessica Meija, current Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Buffalo, U.S.
  • Alexander Robel, Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech University, U.S.
  • Dana Stamo, PhD Candidate at the University of Colorado, Boulder, U.S.

This seminar is part of the newly-launched Polar Impact Mentorship Initiative (PIMI) and registration is required. The event will not be recorded. Following registration, registrants will receive a Zoom link and a Google Forms link where they may (anonymously) submit questions for the panel.
