Accessibility in Polar Research (APR) invites registration for their upcoming webinar, titled Stepping onto the Ice: Supervising, Accommodating, and Supporting Researchers with Disabilities in the Polar Field. This webinar will take place 14 June 2023, 7:00-8:30 a.m. AKDT.
This panel discussion with Accessibility in Polar Research aims to raise awareness of the inequalities researchers with disabilities face in the polar field, and wider STEM. Additionally, the panel will share thoughts on how to be the best ally/supervisor for people living with disabilities that you can be. Throughout the event attendees will hear panelists reflecting on their journey into STEM, the barriers they have faced, and what accommodations have been required when conducting fieldwork with, or as, a researcher with disabilities. APR will also explore ways forward for the community, and how to make academia and polar research more accessible.
After the panel discussion attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions to both the speakers and the event organizer, Accessibility in Polar Research.
