The Cold Regions Research and Engineering Lab (CRREL) invites applications for an Engineering Technician. This permanent, full-time position is open to U.S Citizens and will be located in Fairbanks, Alaska.
CRREL is a multidisciplinary research organization with a variety of Principal Investigators who have different specialties, but projects often focus on permafrost. The lab is interested in candidates with a variety of skills, but are hoping to find someone with a background or interest in geophysics.
Duties include:
- Execute test programs in support of scientific and engineering research studies;
- Collect data from a wide range of sensors, environmental inputs, and commercial and government systems to quantify observed physical phenomena in field and facility settings;
- Work in partnership with engineers and scientists to determine relevant parameters;
- Establish whether existing procedures, methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation can be utilized or, more often, whether they must be modified, or entirely new procedures be developed; and
- Evaluate test data, adjudicating and operating equipment, and recording instrument readings.
