The Arctic Data Center is accepting applications for their Data Science Training Workshop: Fundamentals of Qualitative and Quantitative Arctic Research. This workshop will take place 27-31 January 2025 in Santa Barbara, California.

This five-day, in-person workshop is for Arctic researchers to enhance their programming skills. The workshop covers reproducible and ethical research practices, data documentation and preservation, and an introduction to R programming. It also focuses on qualitative data management, including handling sensitive data. This workshop is ideal for researchers who are starting with little to no programming experience and are eager to build their skills from the ground up.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Reproducible research and data management;
  • Ethical data collection and qualitative data handling;
  • Introduction to R programming and text analysis; and
  • Data cleaning, wrangling, and publishing.

Limited support for travel is available.
