The Bering Ecosystem Study Open Implementation Workshop was convened in association with the Global Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics (GLOBEC) Symposium on Climate Variability and Sub-Arctic Marine Ecosystems on 16 May 2005 in Victoria, British Columbia.
The workshop was designed to inform stakeholders and the scientific community about the opportunities for climate-related research in the Bering Sea, particularly research opportunities in the BEST program and to elicit comments on the draft Bering Ecosystem Study Program Implementation Plan.
To ensure that the implementation plan incorporated the concerns and interests from a broad constituency of researchers, resource managers, fishers, and Alaska Native communities, participants from a wide array of disciplines and backgrounds were invited to the workshop.
